Welcome to Woods Retreat at Pangorge Springs - our handcrafted family home & sanctuary tucked into the forest overlooking the Tennessee River. This one-of-a-kind private home, entirely your own to enjoy, is just 8 miles from downtown Chattanooga.
Unwind inside our spacious home, step outside to your private deck, explore our hiking and biking trails, relax by the firepit, or soak in the hot tub. Every corner of the property offers tranquility and stunning views of the river and mountains beyond.
Inside Woods Retreat
Step inside and feel the warmth of handcrafted design at every turn. Our home spans three inviting levels, each thoughtfully created to balance comfort, adventure, and connection to nature.
Main Level
The main floor opens into a sun-drenched great room, where vaulted ceilings and forest-facing windows draw your gaze outward toward the Tennessee River. Sink into the plush, cozy seating of the living room and lose yourself in the view — towering trees, the glimmering Tennessee River, and the ever-changing light through the massive picture windows. It’s the perfect spot to curl up with a book (we have plenty!), sip coffee, or simply take in the peaceful forest around you. The open kitchen is a dream for food lovers — fully equipped with modern appliances, abundant counter space, and every culinary tool you could need to craft a feast or enjoy a quiet breakfast by the trees.
Bedrooms & Rest
Our home features three bedrooms across its levels, each with river views:
Primary Suite - Main Level: King bed, forest views, and an en suite bathroom.
Second Bedroom - Downstairs: Queen bed, spacious and peaceful — a true retreat after a day of exploring.
Third Bedroom - Downstairs: Full-over-full bunkbed, ideal for families or friends traveling together.
The Loft – Adventure in the Air
Above the main space, the loft invites play and creativity. Climb the custom indoor climbing wall in a tucked-away perch with panoramic views of the surrounding forest canopy. It’s a favorite spot for kids — and the young at heart.
The loft also features a TV lounge, board games, futon, and a dedicated workspace.
Mudroom
Designed with outdoor living in mind, the downstairs mudroom features a large walk-in shower—perfect for rinsing off before a soak in the hot tub. A washer and dryer add convenience for families, longer stays, and adventure-filled days.
Our Story
This home has been the heart of our family. Built by us using materials from the surrounding forest - this is where we’ve raised our children and created so many core memories. We’re opening our doors to share this special sanctuary with others and invite you to make your own core memories here.
GUEST ACCESS:
You are free to roam the entire property here at our nature retreat ~ Pangorge Springs. Nestled on the side of the mountain, our 30+ acres of private forested land offer rare access to the Tennessee River Gorge while still being so close to downtown Chattanooga.
Over the years, we have hand-built a network of hiking and biking trails that weave throughout the forest. These trails connect the five homes we’ve built here while raising our family, each tucked discreetly into the landscape to preserve the tranquility of the land. We would love for you to stay at all our unique homes ~ check them out under my host profile!
Our property backs directly up to Prentice Cooper State Forest, over 27,000 acres of semi-protected wilderness—a vast natural playground filled with scenic overlooks, sandstone bluffs, and miles of additional trails to explore.
This house is nestled on its own side of our property, providing privacy while still being a 10 minute walk to our other unique homes at Pangorge Springs. Wander through the woods, view the river below, or set out on a morning ride—this land invites exploration in every direction.
Here, in the Tennessee River Gorge, you're so close to endless outdoor recreation. - climbing, hiking, biking, boating, fishing, and more. You can access the Tennessee River, a fishing and recreation mecca, at the Suck Creek boat ramp ~ one mile down the road. There are nearby creeks that offer seasonal blue hole swimming. Suck Creek, a local favorite, is right around the corner. And Middle Creek, just one mile away, is a true gem with waterfalls, spectacular boulder gardens, and swim spots.
Though it feels worlds away, Pangorge Springs is just 8 miles from downtown Chattanooga, with its renowned restaurants, art, and countless attractions. Woods Retreat is the perfect base for those who crave adventure, exploration, and relaxation.
Please note - Woods Retreat is nestled on the side of the mountain accessed by a long, steep gravel driveway. To ensure easy and safe access in all weather conditions, we highly recommend a vehicle with All-Wheel Drive or 4WD.
